Hands-on workshop (in Italian) on

SMPS Power Magnetics Performance & Testing

6-7-8 October 2020

Although magnetic devices are an element of primary importance in the operation and design of Switch-Mode Power Supplies (SMPSs), some important aspects relating to their characteristics are still poorly investigated and understood. A clear interpretation of the properties of magnetic components opens up new perspectives in the design and manufacture of higher power density SMPSs.
The workshop, organized by Würth Elektronik Italia, Rohde & Schwarz and Batter Fly, in collaboration with the university spin-off IPERA, aims to offer participants the opportunity to study conceptually and experimentally some of the most important problems inherent to power inductors, relating to saturation phenomena, power losses, electromagnetic compatibility and the guidelines for the comparative evaluation and choice of components. The intrinsic properties of inductors, their performance in relation to how they are used, as well as their impact on the overall performance of SMPS will be discussed. Furthermore, the seminar will deal with methodological and practical issues on methods of testing magnetic components.
